Bakker Sliedrecht connects wind farm Ospeldijk to high-voltage grid

05 May 2021

Bakker Sliedrecht will connect the new civil wind farm Ospeldijk in Nederweert in Limburg to the high-voltage grid in the coming months. Due to its expertise in this area, the electrical installation company is increasingly called in to connect wind and solar parks.

Bakker Sliedrecht has been brought in by main contractor H4A Wind Energy to connect the turbines to the high-voltage grid of grid operator Enexis. The company is installing the 20 kV cables from turbines to the 20 kV purchasing station, which is connected to the high-voltage grid. After installation, Bakker Sliedrecht will commission the installation.

Optimal performance through integrated HV-solutions

Bakker Sliedrecht has thus far connected mutiple of solar and wind farms to the high-voltage grid, for both 10, 20 and 30 kV voltage. “That is specialized work. Not everyone is able or allowed to work on high-voltage installations. As a company, you have to meet the strict requirements of NEN 3840”, says high voltage specialist Nico IJzerman of Bakker Sliedrecht. Bakker Sliedrecht has decades of experience in constructing, installing and commissioning high-voltage installations for the industry and maritime sector. “Bakker Sliedrecht brings in that experience when connecting the growing number of wind and solar parks. We are responding to a trend and as Bakker Sliedrecht we are showing that we are the specialist in this area”, says project manager Matthias Baas.

Extensive experience in the renewable industry

Until now, Bakker Sliedrecht has mainly been involved in the installation of onshore wind farms. At sea, the company is indirectly involved in the construction of large offshore wind farms, by supplying and installing the electrical installations for the work and crane vessels that build the farms. Bakker Sliedrecht is also collaborating with energy suppliers, for example for the technical installations of offshore power hubs. Furthermore, the company performs management, maintenance and service for wind and solar parks.

Project burgerwindpark Ospeldijk

Burgerwindpark Ospeldijk is being developed by the Zuidenwind cooperation and Water Company Limburg (WML) in collaboration with Nederweerter Energy Cooperation Newecoop. The park has four wind turbines that can each generate 4.5 megawatts of renewable energy. Construction started last June and the last turbine will be installed at the beginning of May.
