Emission-free operations ashore

Shore power has been used for many years in the leisure craft and smaller marine industries. By using shore power, vessels can continue to operate ashore without any emissions. Bakker Sliedrecht has now delivered two large 10MW installations for the two largest crane vessels in the world and developed a standard concept to make the dredging and offshore industry more sustainable.

Conversion of existing ships

Ashore power connection roughly consists of 4 components: the integration of the existing installation, the installation of a sub-station, the ship's infrastructure and connection, and the necessary modifications on board. The complexity of a shore power connection depends on the vessel's electrical installation status and the facilities already present on the shore. In addition, the power, voltage, frequency, and communication protocol must be matched.

Electrifying the entire quay

The electrification of a few docks or entire quay can be very interesting for terminals and landowners. The solution enables docking vessels to meet the set emission standards while saving fuel and maintenance costs. Ship-specific modifications are reduced to a minimum with the flexibly placed grid optimizer.

Flexible concepts

If grid congestion occurs at the mooring location, the ship can also be connected to a battery or an existing LNG generator. This way, emission savings up to 25% can easily be achieved. We are happy to advise which solution fits best in your specific situation.
