Bakker Sliedrecht has the order to deliver two sets of two 2500 kW submersible motors in two years for the new Van Oord trailing suction hopper dredgers.
Two brand new 18000 m3 Van Oord trailing suction hopper dredgers ships are being built in Spain. Bakker Sliedrecht has the order to deliver two sets of two 2500 kW submersible motors in two years for these ships. This also includes the delivery of a spare motor and spare parts.
Bakker Sliedrecht has delivered submersible motors to Van Oord in the past, for example on the HAM 318 and Vox Maxima. This new order is special to Bakker Sliedrecht because it is the first time that five submersible motors of this power are ordered by one customer.
The submersible motors are designed, produced and tested by Indar in Spain. The submersible motors are thoroughly tested in a specially designed tank. After a successful test, the submersible motors are transported to the workshop of Bakker Sliedrecht in the Netherlands. In the workshop the submersible motors are equipped with an underwater pump. These units are then installed into a suction tube.
After placing and connecting the motor cables on the submersible motors by Bakker Sliedrecht each suction tube is transported back to Spain for installation on the ships. After the installation of the suction tubes is completed the submersible motors are connected to the electrical installations on the ships. Finally, Bakker Sliedrecht will commission all submersible motors including the cabling.
