A dynamic positioning system (DP) is a system that automatically controls the position and course of a vessel by making use of the existing propulsion. Bakker Sliedrecht and RH Marine jointly supply and integrate such systems on board offshore and dredging vessels. DP systems are available in three classifications: DP1, DP2, and DP3.
The DP solution is available in almost any configuration, ranging from an add-on for an integrated bridge to a classified DP2 system, from a small joystick system to a redundant setup with multiple stations. The system has been developed through years of experience in ship automation and control systems, gained through our work on a wide variety of vessels in the maritime industry.
Recently Bakker Sliedrecht and RH Marine upgraded ice-class vessel BigRoll Bering of the Roll Group with a DP2 system. This makes it easier to keep the 173-meter long module carrier in position during loading and unloading.
