Energy solutions for tomorrow’s fleet

The electrical power supply on board vessels is becoming increasingly complex, mainly driven by several international developments in the maritime industry. These developments, such as the sustainability challenge to sail emission-free and the needed ability to provide ships on a project basis with modular and interchangeable energy storage and generation modes, asks for smart e-solutions. With the addition of generators with different dynamic profiles, types of energy storage, and alternative energy generators such as LNG or (micro) turbines, powerplants are becoming increasingly complex.

Bakker Sliedrecht takes on these challenges and helps customers with this complicated energy generation, distribution, storage, conversion, and control choices. We excel in (one-off) projects with a high level of customization, both in new builds and refits. 

Future-proof energy mix

The entire maritime industry is motivated to achieve the 2030 sustainability goals of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). As a result, maritime developments in energy generation, distribution, and storage follow each other in rapid succession. Besides being used to make the fleet more sustainable, these innovations also offer enormous opportunities to increase operational efficiency and lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Bakker Sliedrecht helps customers choose a future-proof energy mix by thinking about the best possible solution in the initial phase and developing it if it is not available on the market. 

Modular and hybrid energy solutions

The rapid succession of new energy generation and storage forms also brings operational challenges. With an expected lifetime of 30 years, most of the existing fleet will still be operational in 2030. How can shipbuilders and operators make a choice for tomorrow while only today's technology is available?

Bakker Sliedrecht has developed the Energy Storage Solution (ESS). With this modular energy storage application, existing ships can be made ready for the (temporary) use of sustainable energy carriers and generators with limited intervention.

Bakker Sliedrecht highly values the benefits of innovation. We are constantly developing technologies and applications to solve the challenges for tomorrow's fleet. We now have the opportunity to demonstrate a selection of our latest innovations in our new Bakker Experience Center.

We continuously update the Bakker Experience Center with new solutions. We will clarify, demonstrate and let you experience every solution in person. We currently offer three separate Experiences, namely Remote Service with Augmented Reality glasses, Common Diesel Generator protection system and the Energy Storage Solution. The Experiences will be held in a small group so that the technology, its application, and your unique challenges are addressed during the visit.
