Contractors need to dredge ever faster and deeper. A submersible motor can help to ensure that there is still sufficient flow through the dredge pump even at considerable depths. Bakker Sliedrecht delivers and installs submersible engines on trailing suction hopper dredgers, crawlers, cutter dredgers, and deep-sea mining vessels.
Together with several partners, Bakker Sliedrecht has developed its powerful submersible engine, which can be adapted to any dredger. Due to these engines, dredgers with a unique design can work up to depths of 250 meters despite challenging conditions.
Bakker Sliedrecht delivers and installs submersible motors in oil-filled and air-filled versions. One of our partners develops and builds these submersible motors in Europe. The motors are also extensively tested in a specially designed water basin. In addition, as experts in underwater motor applications, Bakker Sliedrecht is constantly developing innovations - alone or together with partners. For example, we developed a low-noise underwater motor for an Irish research vessel. We also applied our condition-based maintenance technique, which allows maintenance to be based on the actual condition and, therefore, easier to plan.

In the 1980s, submersible motors were still relatively small in size. As well as the fact that dredging depths have become ever deeper, they are also increasingly used for heavy-duty work. Recently, Bakker Sliedrecht equipped the world's largest cutter suction dredger with submersible motors.

We continuously update the Bakker Experience Center with new solutions. We will clarify, demonstrate and let you experience every solution in person. We currently offer three separate Experiences, namely Remote Service with Augmented Reality glasses, Common Diesel Generator protection system and the Energy Storage Solution. The Experiences will be held in a small group so that the technology, its application, and your unique challenges are addressed during the visit.
