Bakker Sliedrecht has developed a Dredging Profile Computer (DPC) for dredging vessels. The automation solution ensures that the desired dredging profile is converted into the required adjustments of the dredger. The advantage of this is that the automatic DPC control regulates the optimization of the swing movements without exceeding the installation limits. The operator can closely monitor the process via our user interface on board. Manual intervention by the crew on board remains possible if required.
The automation solution guarantees the safety of the operational process during dredging. By using sensors, data is collected throughout the dredging process. With the input of the operator and this data, the intelligent algorithm then determines the correct position for the swing winch, ladder winch, and spud carrier. This type of automation contributes to making the dredging process increasingly efficient.
When a cutter suction dredger needs an overhaul, Bakker can install new electrical systems such as DPC in one go. Existing drive systems can use the automatization benefits of DPC with a minor modification.
