'Inai Kenanga' - Inai Kiara

Bakker Sliedrecht engineered, delivered, and commissioned all main electrical installations of the Inai Kenanga. This 33.335 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger was built at the shipyard of Selat Melaka in Malaysia.

Biggest trailing suction hopper dredger of Malaysia

The Inai Kenanga is the biggest trailing suction hopper dredger in Malaysia and the world’s third biggest. Bakker Sliedrecht has been responsible for all main electrical installations of the vessel, including vessel automation and dredging automation.

Main electrical installations

The main electrical installations have been designed and engineered by the large engineering team of Bakker Sliedrecht. All drive systems and switchboards of the trailing suction hopper dredger have been built in the workshop of Bakker Sliedrecht in the Netherlands and shipped to Selat Melaka in Malaysia.

Bakker Sliedrecht has equipped the Inia Kenanga with six low voltage drive systems, including two jet pump drive systems, and two drive systems for the suction pipe. BIMAC, the purpose-built vessel management system that is designed by Bakker Sliedrecht, was also installed on the Inai Kenanga.

Dredging automation

Furthermore, Bakker Sliedrecht took care of the complete dredging automation on board the trailing suction hopper dredger. The dredging automation system allows the operators to accurately control the movements of the suction pipe. It also offers the operators real-time productivity information to monitor the dredging process.

Successful sea trials in Malaysia

Bakker Sliedrecht participated in the vessel’s sea trials that were conducted successfully in Malaysia. During the sea trials, all equipment has been fine-tuned and tested thoroughly to ensure the reliability of this great trailing suction hopper dredger.
