This mega hopper for DEME has a flexible power generation and energy management system, which makes it possible to transfer electric power from the PS PTO generator 3,400 kW to the SB PTO generator 3,400 kW and vice versa.
The electric power transfer is enabled by means of a DC bus system with AFE rectifiers, which also powers the jetpumps 1,000 kW and bowthrusters. Another feature of this energy boardnet system is the floating frequency between 44/50 - 60 Hz.
Bakker Sliedrecht was challenged to deliver electrical components that are compatible with this floating boardnet frequency and create the electrical design.
